Court marriage is a completely legal procedure to solemnize your marriage in court irrespective of religion. It is performed or solemnized under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. The court marriage is completely different from the marriages performed at the temples or church. It is not performed according to the Vedic rituals of different religions.
Court Marriage & Marriage registration both are different from each other. Court marriage takes around 30-45 days for the entire process to complete. But, marriage registration can be accomplished within 3-4 Hours. Marriage registration is performed at the registrar’s office after the marriage of couples according to their Vedic rituals.
Both court marriage or marriage registration requires 3 witnesses for the completion of the marriage. Both the partners must fulfill the eligibility criteria of court marriage. Both the partners must be of valid age. The minimum or valid age for male & female partners must be 21 years & 18 years respectively.
Both the partners must not be in any previous active relationship. In the case of a previous active relationship, either they have to submit the divorce certificate from the court or they have to submit the death certificate of their spouse. Both the partners must not fall under the degree of sapinda relationship or forbidden relationship.
Both the partners must need to submit the documents required for court marriage - 1) Aadhar Card 2) Pan Card 3) Certificate of birth or class 10 mark sheet.
